Stop apps (esp Word) from reloading when opening

I have an iPad Pro 11. I’m an editor and a writer and use my iPad as my on-the-go device. Every time I switch from Word to a different app and then go back to Word, the app reloads, which means it goes back to the beginning of the doc and also reopens with all the track changes visible (which I have to then make invisible).

Is there anyway to stop this from happening? It’s a nightmare and costing me so much time.

There's no way to stop it from happening. The only way is to use split screen mode for other apps until your done working on the word doc.
