Safari allows you to only open new windows with new tabs. Is this possible with Firefox?

I use the Tab Mix Plus add-on.

In the preferences for Tab Mix Plus, there's an option to 'Enable Single Window Mode' at the bottom of the Links tab.

Thats nice. Only problem is the red tabs and that purple loading bar — how do I remove them?

Is the first option in the below pic what you are talking about? Firefox 3.5.5.

Did you bother to look in Firefox preferences?????

FWIW, to get it to divert all new windows to tabs, I think you do need TabMixPlus or the like. There are settings in it to disable things like the color-coded tabs. Otherwise at least some pop-ups (e.g. the ones triggered by Javascript) will still be pop-ups.
