When using iCloud from the Mac where it says it backs up files for you, how do I get iCloud to NOT do backups?

In IOS, I can say not to backup, I believe, but on the Mac, I don't see how to tell iCloud to not backup files.

The only thing I can find is to delete backups that have been done, but not disable them in the first place.

Thanks in advance,

Macs do not back up to iCloud. Files and some apps will sync data, but there’s no overall backup like iOS has.

No, sorry, I meant how do I keep iCloud itself from doing backups (on the iCloud server) from data sent from the Mac.

1. Go to "about this Mac" (apple menu)
2. Click the storage pane
3. Now you have to "un-manage" disk space (if you have that turned on).

Can't advise further because I've NEVER enabled this, and NEVER will.

This is what I see in my storage tab so I guess I'm OK.

Thanks,
