Hi.

I am using a new 27" Studio Display as an additional monitor with my MacBook Pro 15". It's connectd by firewire on the respective slot. When using this setup, The Display permanently charges the MBPro up to 100%, which in my understanding is not very healthy for the battery. In the instructions it says there is an option in settings that allows to regulate that, but I cannot find this item neither in "Battery" nor in "Displays".

Is there a solution to this permanent charging?

Thanks.

The Mac doesn’t have a way to fully turn off charging like that but you can use 3rd party software like AlDente to do it: https://apphousekitchen.com/

you have this option in system settings>battery>battery health...

Not sure it would work but you might consider putting a hub in between MBpro and ASD: MB to Hub to ASD. Plug MB into a regular jack that doesn't charge it. Connect ASD to a video out port on the hub. That seems like it would work but again, I haven't tried it myself... and, of course, it involves new expense vs. perhaps hoping to find a way to turn charging off in ASD.

That still wont stop charging. With the 3rd party apps you can set a specific limit. Apple’s optimized charging is fairly random but will eventually charge up the Mac fully.
of course, but the OP did worry about this (which is what i was addressing) -

"The Display permanently charges the MBPro up to 100%, which in my understanding is not very healthy for the battery."
