Vague title I know but it's hard to think what to properly describe this as (or google) but here's the situation:

When you have some apps open full screen, and open a new one, the "space" automatically switches to the new one, be it full screen or the desktop. Essentially I want to stop that from happening, and make programs open in the background instead.

Sometimes I'll open something from say, full screen safari using launchpad, and it'll drag me back to the desktop as the program opens. I return to safari, but I'm dragged back to the desktop again (new program still opening). That can happen two or three times before the program is finished starting up and it gets pretty frustrating. Is there any way to make apps launch in the background and not have me switch to them automatically?
