Somehow I've been creating Hide My Email addresses that have been replying to people who are friends of mine. I am not sure how this is happening or even that is is happening. My wife just asked whey I got such a weird email address. This is the first I'd heard of it. I signed into iCloud and see that I've set up (somehow) 4 hide my email accounts, but I have no idea how this is happening.

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any idea what normal actions of mine might be doing this? I'm not trying to set these up & I'm not doing anything (that I notice) out of the ordinary from how I normally handle my email, but I would like to make sure this doesn't happen in the future.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,
its hard to understand what you are saying.

you created some hide my addresses, and now people you know are telling you those addrsses are 'replying' to them?

are your friends are sending emails to your hide my addresses?

or are they getting new emails sourced from hide my addresses?

you could be creating them when prompted at sites to sign up or pay for something, safari will ask if youd like to create one. otherwise you would have to manually create them in settjngs > icloud > hide my.

if i were you i would audit what devices have access to your account. and change your apple id password.

then go through your sent mail looking for emails sent from those addresses. the mail app will allow you to send from a hide my address, ao maybe you sent some emails with one of them selected unbeknownst to you?

Sorry about that, I should have been clearer.

Somehow I must have created these hide my addresses. They are all used for specific people who are friends & each one is unique to one person. I'm assuming that I sent emails to the people first using that address & now they are replying to those addresses.

When I went to the iCloud site to remove them, it indicated that the addresses were only being used for those specific individuals.I must have created them, but I have no idea when or how I did so. I didn't do anything odd or different from how I normally process emails. The concerning thing for me is that this has happened to me 4 times now & I had no idea it was going on. I want to modify my behaviors to make sure I don't do it again.

Good idea to search my sent emails. Hopefully that will give me some insight into when & how that happened.

In your compose email window, can you check the “from address”? Is it defaulting to Hide my email or your regular icloud email?
Thanks! I didn't even think of that. When I checked, it briefly selected Hide My before defaulting back to my primary email address. I think that might be the issue. I'll bet I was replying too quickly, and not giving it time to select my actual address. Thanks for the help!
