This almost seems a no brainer to me. what do you think?
Cheap, thin, clear sticky pads. 2.4mm thick

Just stick one at each corner on the back of your iPad2, will lift the back of the device a couple or millimetres off whatever surface you place it on, so it won't get scratched, plus will stop it slipping about, and it may even improve sound output from the speaker which is towards the back more now.
Either these, or another make.
4 clear sticky pads a couple of millimetres thick just seems such a easy and cheap way to protect your expensive device.
