Hi all,

Is there a way to have a timeout process on spotlight or finder? Every once in a while I realize my spotlight is still searching (ie I left some text in the search field) or something similar is happening in finder. This means my cpu just grinds away until I notice it, which would be hard to notice without iStat on the menu bar.

Is there a way to tell each process to stop attempting its operations if there is a certain time period of non-interaction? This would greatly help me on battery life for the times when I fail to notice this is happening.

Thanks in advance!

Is there an app which does this?

I have looked through nearly all the preferences I can think of which might relate and nothing allows the "clear spotlight field after opening document/file" option :(
