I'm using an older iPhone (6 or 7) to just store music. I set it up and iTunes got it connected right away. The only problem is that when I get a text on my regular phone (iPhone 11) I get notifications on my old one as well. Do I need to sign out on that one? I was worried that then iTunes wouldn't recognize it when I try and add music. Or should I just turn notifications off? I might end up putting it in airplane mode, which will probably work, but thought there might be a better solution. Thanks!

Thanks all. Also forgot to mention that i don't want to just turn notifications off, but since my kids will be using it for music also I want it so it can't send or receive messages. I switched iMessage to off, so hopefully that will stop it? I had already turned all notifications off, but wanted to make sure they weren't still going through. More that the kids would accidentally send or delete something, not that I'm worried they are going to try and send messages. Is there anything else I need to do to tell it that I don't want it getting my messages? Thanks!

Since the device is going to the kids, I'd do "Erase All Content and Settings" and set it up with a different account on family share.

You might even want to leave iMessage and FaceTime enabled on the kids account as another method of communication.

That's a good idea, I might just make an extra account for that device. Thanks!
