I'm planning on getting the new mac pro whenever that comes out but in the mean time ive been trying to work out the hard drive configuration.

Right now im thinking that ill replace the boot drive with a raptor 10k drive for applications and such and back that up via time machine to an external 250gb drive. For storage im going to fill one of the bays with a 750gb drive but my question is whether to back the drive to another 750 gb via superduper or run a RAID 1 setup (software raid). Are there any major performance hits by running the RAID 1?

Ill mostly be doing photo editing/vector art and possibly some very light video editing.

Thanks,
Pili
