I recently got an iBook G4 not less than a week ago and I AM LOVING IT! With the G4 chip existing before 2000, the laptop performs quickly and works well for what I need. The problem is with a just-under 40 gb HD it is hard to stay away from "low hard drive space" warnings. I was thinking about getting a bigger external hard drive for system backups and using a 30 gb HD for media. Are there any other solutions for clearing up hard drive space or where to efficiently store the media on my hard drive?

Id recommend getting both an external HD (USB/FW - your choice) and also upgrade your internal HD to one thats at least 120GB (My MacBook has a 120 and its too small, luckily it has 2.6TB externally). Upgrading the Internal HD, while a pain, is possible, and would mean you can put your existing 40GB HDD in an external case :D
