Long story short,
I am updating my old, very old MacMini and MBAir, both from 2015, main usage is LightRoom and PhotoShop, light edits, the Mini with 16GB RAM and i7 CPUs still does it but is very sluggish, in the meantime I wait for the Studio M4 to be released I got a MBPro M4 and I am looking for a way to connect the external LaCie 2Big Quadra to the MBPro since I host my photo library on that drive.

At this moment in time I connect the drive(s) (there is two of them and a WD, all through FW800 in daisy chain) via a MDP to FW800 adapter, wondering how could I connect the disks to the MBPro or at least the LaCie with the archive to it.

Attaching a photo of the back of the disk, hopefully somebody can suggest a way

Grazie and merry xmas

Giovanni

One way is to use Firewire to Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapters chained and it should work (at least it worked for firewire iPods)

How big are those disks? You can replace them with faster & (physically) smaller for not much more than the price of the adapters you'd need, if they're just 1TB/2TB. You might pay a bit more if they're bigger but unless they're like, 8TB+ it's probably still worth it.

I thought of replacing them with a single SSD and then buy another one for backup reasons, actually the photo archive is a RAID1 with two WD RED 4TB, I could get a 4TB SSD (eeeeeexpensive) and whatever to serve as a backup but it would become too expensive at this moment in time, I am actually waiting to upgrade my old MacMini i7 to a Studio when they next get released and as such I rather save $$$ on disks to speed up computing then reorganise the archive.

Thank you for the suggestion
