Hi - is there a way to get my iPhone to actually use the storage space I have? For instance, it is keeping 100+ GB open on my phone. I cannot get it to download all of my mail, which totals 9GB only. I want it downloaded bc there are so many times where I need something from the past and it can’t find it because it’s only on the server/not synced. Same w photos etc - why leave so much space open?? The way Apple manages storage makes buying extra space a total waste.

How about some info about your email configuration? POP? IMAP? iCloud? The "server/not synced" settings/behavior is dependent on email service type.

It’s iCloud. It is simply the phone not utilizing the space available. Old phone, new phone. Every iOS version. Same w photos etc- optimize storage on, phone could fit more but chooses not to. It’s annoying

Then why not use Download & Keep Originals?

Personally, I use Optimize when I want to save space so I'm happy with its current behavior. For devices where I want offline access to my photo library, I use Download & Keep Originals.

Granted, I think it would be nice if Apple had a "Keep Downloaded" option for albums similar to the Files app for those who don't need to keep their entire library downloaded.
