Hey All!

I have been searching for an answer to this for a while now, and this seems like the best group to help me!

Lets start out :)

I am a PC user by heart... I grew up on it, I learned all I could about it, I know a PC fairly well, Macs are a bit of a different story.

A friend of mine called me not too long ago and asked me to help her with her computer. She has 240g of hard drive space and two secondary hard drives, but apparently only has 4 gigs of available space left. After sobbing for a few moments at the implications of the amount of clean up I would have to do, I started searching for anything and everything that might be tying up space. I found 40 gigs of space being used for music and podcasts. I found 3 gigs of space being used for photos...

She has Lightroom, CS3, and a few other programs, but when I looked at the application information (cmd i) it said that the application size was very small, but even if it was large, I still dont know where the other 200 gigs of hard drive space has gone to. I have done similar searches on the other users and found roughly 15 total gigs of space of music on the other users...

So.. Where has all the memory gone too? She mentioned her husband may (or may not, couldnt remember) have left a previous os on the mac when they went to leapord, which I would assume would account for the lack of memory, but I dont know what to look for to find if thats so. Any help would be great, because I have been hitting my head against a wall trying to really figure out how she could have tied up 200 gigs of hard drive space on roughly 3 or 4 programs.
