I'm running into the problem were my macbook pro is running out of storage space. I was told to compress files and transfer music, photos, movies onto an external hard drive but I've discovered that that isn't the problem. 192.9 of storage is being occupied and all falling under the category of "other." I was hoping someone could tell me what exactly "other" is and how I could free up some space.

Hello there -

Where are you seeing this information about your disk space usage? "Other" could be a whole lot of things... one possible culprit is a runaway log file.

Under system information and then storage.

This is what I'm seeing. I tried both and neither really tells me what is taking up so much space.
