So my wife uses my main machine to backup our iPad, the music already gets stored in a drive / folder that is not my boot, which is a 120GB SSD. I really don't want the photos plugging up my boot drive either and don't want any kind of home folder structure on the other drive that the Music is residing in either.
Other problem too is that I am not able to figure out how to move the photos that are on the iPad to the backup, it keeps asking me to use the existing folder in itunes / home to "update" my iPad-2, I think it is just going to delete them all since the home folder is empty.
Surely Apple has realized that we pro users don't want out boot drives filled with photos that could easily reside on any one of 4 other internal drives....right?
How this all started to happen is that my wife moved our music from our laptop onto the big machine so we could have it on the iPad, she also uploaded another 40GB of music, leaving me with 19 GB of space on my boot. I just deleted the whole folder since I don't want any of that crap on my boot drive, hence the photo backup from the last iPad backup is gone. Yes, I know that I could have re-addressed the music, but I was right in the middle of a big job and was irritated at the notion of of lost space.
No biggie but I am getting kind of sick of just how dumbed down this iOS stuff is and how it could just be a simple drag and drop but it seems to not be....
