can't they put more than one 1.8" hard drive in the ipod to obtain a bigger storage size if the 1.8" drive is so thin?

If they stacked the drives the iPod wouldn't be so thin anymore would it?
And if they put two 1.8" drives side by side it would dramatically affect the ability for most to hold an iPod in their hand.

Another way to put it is that two 1.8" 30 GB drives are bigger and cost more than one 1.8" 60 GB drive.

What I think would be way cool would be to have a modular system than would enable you to dock a nano sized device with a hard drive of your choice when the need arose, but have all the functionality in the nano.

Plus, the current line of iPods struggles with heat problems as it is. Considering hard drives are one of the biggest factors for inducing this heat, adding another one would mean a proportionally much larger iPod to allow for heat loss. :)
