"Storeagent"?

I just had this pop up on my display in an alert box:

"storeageagent is trying to install new software. Type your password to allow this."

I've been using Macs since the early 1990s and I've never seen this message before. Anyone know what it might be?

google search ("storeagent") says it's part of the Mac App store.
