StorEDGE mini drive disconnects while sleeping

on my 2012 MBA... and i get an error about removing the drive without ejecting. obviously the drive is still in there, but long term this doesn't seem good for the drive and i dont like having to keep removing it and putting it back in. any ideas why this would happen?
 
Haven't seen this behavior. I've got 2 of these SD cards, one in my mid 2013 MBA and one in my late 2013 work MBP, both are working as expected.

It may be a long shot, but have you tried an SMC reset? I've resolved a couple of odd behaviors on my MBP via an SMC reset.

$0.02 worth.

I had the same problem with my nifty drive, I use Jettison (from mac app store) now and it automatically ejects the drive when my MBP goes to sleep and mounts it again on wake.

i use jettison as well, but i actually haven't been since i had this problem- i don't trust jettison to free up the drive before it ejects as i have seen this behavior with an external hd before. my issue is actually that it seemingly unmounts or ejects without warning, not that it DOESN'T eject. then again, i'm only keeping my music library on there.
 
It happened again while NOT sleeping, before my very eyes. I quickly opened the console and copied the log before and after this happened to try and get a glimpse of what was happening. If I posted it here would anyone be able to make sense of it?

Were you ever able to sort this out? My StorEDGE drive is spontaneously disconnecting now, without the system going to sleep.
 
absolutely not, i'm convinced that this is a hardware issue with the MBA as another person has reported the same thing.
