Storing and viewing iTunes files on an external disk

Hey everyone, is it possible to store movies/TV shows bought off iTunes on an external disk and only have them show up when the external disk is connected?

I currently have it set up so that iTunes automatically adds stuff to the media library and would hate to remove that setting.

If you want to have some of your iTunes content on your internal drive and other content on the external, you do need to uncheck that option.

Split iTunes Folder?

Sounds like that exactly what I'm looking for. I can live with turning on auto add whenever I add some stuff.
