I'm using Aperture and have a large database of 40GB. Since I only use a laptop, 40GB is a lot of space to store on new Macbook Pro's with those tiny SSD-drives.

So I was wondering how other users of a MB(P) with huge photo library manages their photo's? I would like to store all my photo's on a NAS, but I understand that Aperture is not suitable to store library's on a NAS, are there any other solutions?

I use multiple aperture libraries. I create a yearly library that stays on my rMBP and the prior year goes on my DAS (Drobo Mini). I still have access to the archived libraries when I'm home, and I have the current year with me when I travel.

This is the major reason why I opted for Aperture over LR. Both are excellent tools, but with Aperture's use of a single container file to store the images, it makes the management of separate libraries so much easier.
