Storing large iTunes library on multiple hard drives

Is it possible to have your have an iTunes library over multiple hard drives? As in 2-4?

I think as long as i uncheck the "copy files to itunes Media folder when adding to library" checkmark in the advanced tab of the preferences it should just add to library but not transfer the file over right?

Am i missing something?
