I know what you mean. I love shots like this. I think my favourite one of the above is the lightening arcing across the sky.
Loving the storms here. In the UK a few dabs of sheet lightening were the norm and fork lightening the exception, but it's now the other way round.
We have storms like this in late spring/early summer (Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota) and it's impressive to watch sometimes. Sometimes they occur a lot.
That was a ripper of a storm, it was right above our house for ages, lightning then 1/4 of a second later the thunder. It was so bloody loud.
What I want to know is if the person who took the photo's wants to swap houses, they certainly have a nice view.

It was massive wasn't it! I'm not sure who took them though. First glance and because of who sent them I thought they were from one of the Bondi Junction residential towers, but they're way too close for that. You're right, nice place wherever it is.
Great pictures. It looks like they're taken from the Lower North Shore (well, duh). Too far from the Bridge to be Lavender Bay/McMahon's Point/Blue's Point (which was my first guess). Perhaps they were taken from Waverton, or Greenwich?
Don't know at this stage unfortunately.

We're on a 'code brown' in the health dept, meaning "external disaster".

That's not good. We were watching Sunday's storm on the weather tracker satellite and it was crazy. The weather seems to go from one extreme to the other here. For example, now there's lots of storms (and cyclones!) they've stopped airing the drought and desalination adverts on TV and there aren't too many stories of forest fires in the news...
Nice thread resurrection. Did you read the part that it was not the OP's camera that took them? It was someone else who mailed him the pictures ... over a year ago.
They would have been considered hi-res when this thread was started, bearing in mind Colour TV was a relatively recent invention...
If a mate emailed me pics as good as these I'd ask what camera was used.
As to when this happened, I never looked at the date. I was scanning though for images and came across these pics. Did not look at the date. Didn't occur to me that posts from a year ago would still be up a year later.
