if someone could shed some light on some questions i have...the 'ripit' software being sold aside from ripping movies to your mac, does it compress them also? if not what do i do to compress it? do i even need to? and when i rip a movie does it go into my itunes cover flow with the rest of my movies? can these movies be synced with ipod, ipad etc thanks in advance

also how are these programs MacTheRipper, or Mac DVD Ripper Pro

There's a beta mode in RipIt to compress. There's numerous other programs you can use to compress. Do a search here and you'll find countless threads and opinions. One of the most popular options which is free is Handbrake. I'm looking at DVDRemaster Pro myself (just like the features). MacTheRipper is another very popular option.
