So I went onto the iOS 11 beta and set my AirPods so the right one skips songs forward and left one does play/pause.

Over the weekend I downgraded back to iOS beta 1>iOS 10.3.3 beta>>iOS 10.3.2

To my surprise the AirPods are still using the same functions right one skips songs forward and left one does play/pause yet these are not in the options at all.

Has anyone else had this happened?

I imagine somehow the controls are set into the devices themselves somehow...

Probably the phone silently updates the firmware on them (like with the lightning cables or watch); and also likely not able to downgrade

This functionality can be altered in settings. But only in iOS 11.
