Strange Airport Express Behavior

When I connect my computer to the cable modem directly I connect at 28000 kbps but when I go through the Airport Express the speed slowly drops over about 30 min to around 1000 kbps. I have to do a hard reset on the router to fix it, but the speed start to drop again right away. I have tried changing the router channels and the multicast rate but nothing helps. Any suggestions?

I was having speed issues with mine and had to downgrade the firmware from 7.4.1 to 7.3.2

Interestingly that did increase the speed it is now sitting around 5000Mbps but that is still nowhere near where it is when I connect the computer directly to the cable box.
