Strange audio problem with video

When I shoot a video with the front facing camera I have normal, clear audio. When I shoot a video with the rear facing camera I get a static sound as if it's recording sound but it doesn't actually record any audio. If I talk in the video it won't record the sound. Is audio recorded by two different mics depending upon which camera you use? I have a spigeb neo hybrid case on the phone. Not sure if a hole is being covered up or something. Very odd. Any thoughts?
 
I'm thinking it's gotta be a software glitch if the front camera audio works. Pretty sure the same mic must be used for both. Can anyone confirm at least that part?
