Strange behaviour of mouse pointer

Just recently my mouse pointer has been behaving oddly.

In another forum the black arrow does not change to a hand when over a link, but not consistently. If I change to a different section it may show a hand at first and then not change thereafter. When it doesn't change, as it approaches a link, a "ghost" hand seems to flicker near it but the black pointer remains. Function is fine, it is just unsettling.

Any ideas? Is the fault with the forum software rather than my iMac?

I believe there has been a recent forum upgrade.

If it only happens on that site, their CSS is probably doing something that Safari doesn't like. Try it in Chrome or Firefox, if it works there then you can be pretty sure it's an issue with the site's CSS or DHTML.

Thanks, I thought there must be a local problem.

It seems to have sorted itself out now though.
