I have a strange black box on my desktop that keeps telling me exactly what I am doing. I don't know how it got there, as my cat jumped on the keyboard while i was on the computer. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Thank you

Control-Option-Shift-Up Arrow

We tried that and it doesn’t work. And now we’ve lost the arrow too . I’m working with a blue circle which won’t allow me to click on anything. So I’m working off keyboard manoeuvrings only. Never seen anything like this.

Wonder if your cat activated something in the Accessibility control panel. I'd poke around there to see if something got turned on.

I think you have Voiceover turned on. Look in System Preferences > Accessibility > Voiceover.

Yes we figured it out we had voice over on and it created the box and the lack of a cursor. Thanks for your help everyone.
