Strange empty files with :_ at beginning

Hi:
I have an external hard drive and when I copy files to it - somehow these "empty" files show up. They have the same name as the files but have :_ in front, which means I have a lot of scrolling down to do to get to the "real" files.

Any help???

Do these files show up in Windows?
If so, then that is normal.
