Hi people,

For about a half year ago, I noted some grey/black-ish thing on the screen.

It's very hard for me, to tell you what it looks like, so here goes an illustration:

2yzix

As you can see, we talk about a little strange thing on the screen, the longest "line in the dot" is no longer than 1, maybe 0.8 MM.

I try to use several "pixel detecters" but it doesnt seemed like a dead pixel, more like a .. I really don't know?

So guys, do you have an idea of what this could be.

I'm using a Macbook Pro from 18th April '08, by the way.

Thanks for your time!

- Neykon ;)

Nope, first I noticed it I actually try to remove the thing by scratching it with my fingers, but it is something going on behind the physical front of the screen.

No one recognizes the problem? I know you people in here are as fast as (bad words) to send quality posts.

I couldn't Google up anything on the internet, or anyone with the same problem, so therefor I ask in here:

Anybody noticed this on your Macbook Pros or are familiar with the problem?

Would be very nice, if there was!

Regards,
- Neykon

I think the silence is because nobody is that sure... Also it is a Sunday morning! Your page has had 53 views, stick with it :)

Last topic I made had 15 views, and 14 comments, so people are indeed very "writy" in here.
I think you're right about the unsureness about this topic, I think it's very strange myself, 'cause I know what a dead pixel look like, but this is more like a strange grey line/dot on the screen.

Does it follow the contours of the pixels? Do you think the line goes around pixels or through them? Wondering if somehow they have come apart?

That's my problem.
It doesn't seem like a dead pixel, it doesn't seem to follow any contour of pixels at all.

Still no guesses?

Do you have one of the new Unibody MBPs? If you do, than it could be something on the inside of the glass. Since it doesn't follow the contour of the pixels, it could be a microscopic scratch too.

Voider:
- Nope, bought my MBP April 08'.
If it it's a scratch, I'm able to complain, right?

There's really nothing outside the screen, it's all going on inside, and unless I do somekind of voodoo-thing, I really can't mess with the inside of the MBP screen. ;)

Sun Baked:
Sorry, didn't quite get that?

I believe I am experiencing the same problem as you. I have three thin faint wisps that extend from the edge of my computer screen. There appears to be no pattern

They aren't dead pixels, but actually (from what I have learned from the internets) leaking crystals. I'm not sure why or how this problem develops but it seems to me that it should be covered by your warranty. I have just gotten off the phone with apple support and I can confirm that in my case it isn't a software or firmware malfunction.

Good luck on possible getting your replaced.
