Hello,

I have MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) and couple of months ago my screen replaced by Apple due to staingate problem.

Recently, I have this strange problem:

- I am pressing F1 all the way down to adjust screenlight and go to sleep.
- When I wake-up I am using F2 to lightup my screen.

And I see a grey ovarlay on my screen. There is thick grey light on the screen and I have to restart or dim the screen a couple of times to get normal colors.

What may cause this?

Thanks

I know this is an extremely old thread, but I had the same problem and found a fix. Thought I'd share it here in case anyone else has to google their problem.

Go into display settings and untick automatically adjust brightness setting. This fixed my problem instantly. If it doesn't, the colour tab (in the same location) allows you to build a custom colour profile to circumvent the problem. It won't fix it, but you can change your display settings to remove the greyness from your screen.
