I have been using Adium for a while now. Anyway, I just tried to open iChat to transfer a file because Adium was failing to do so, and iChat refused to launch. It will bounce once or twice and then close without saying anything.

To solve it I tried the usual trouble shooting techniques: Repaired permissions, restarted computer, delete preferances, ran maintenance scripts, updated prebindings, reinstalled iChat. None of them fixed it. So I opened up console and tried to see if there was anything there to give me a clue. I found that when I tried to open iChat a log got updated with something about an IP address not on the local network and failing. So I unpluged my computer from the network. iChat opened.

I have tested this several times to be sure, if I have a network connection, iChat will fail to open, if I don't have a connection, it will open and I can then connect to the network and use iChat.

Does anyone know why this is or how to fix it? I would like to be able to use iChat every once in a while for Randevouz or file transfers.

Thanks, and sorry for the long post.

P.S. I have iChat 2.1, Mac OS 10.3.8 fully updated with the latest updates.
