Ciao Gang. I was transferring files from my MacBook Pro to an external HHD. All of the sudden my system froze. After I reboot the the icon of the HDD change to an Icon with a small circular "meter" with a gamma of color fro, green to red. The arrow in the middle points to red. I don't seem to find a way successfully to change this back or reset this back to normal. I tried reseting the Pram, remove all external devices, etc. No Luck

In addition, every time I tried to transfer a file it said that it been use by another application. No matter what I try to do, the icon still the same and I don't seen to find a way to make this normal. ANY IDEAS FROM ANYONE? HELP!!!!

Looks like it's a "feature" from some software that's part of your external hdd. WD has it's smartware thing. It's clearly at some red-lined area of the dial, is it almost full? Is it acting normal now that your computer ISN'T frozen?
