Strange iPod Porblem (I think)

I have a 20GB 3rd Generation iPod.

I noticed when I have my iPod pluged into my Boston Acustics speakers (through the dock or through the headphone adapter) I hear a clicking noise that occurs about every 5 seconds and a constant humming noise. The if I turn the back light is on the clicking goes away but the humming remains. If my iPod is not plugged in there is no noise at all.

Is this interference with the speaker wires and the iPods power cord or is there something wrong with my dock or iPod?
