Strange issue with iPhoto and Duplicate Detection.

iPhoto stopped detecting duplicates on importing photos - no popup asking whether I want to import duplicates.

I tried deleting the iPhoto plists in user/Library/Preferences - did not fix the problem.

Rebuilt the Library using iPhoto (holding cmd and option when loading iPhoto) - did not fix the problem.

Bought iPhoto Library Manager and rebuilt the iPhoto Library - this time the problem was fixed BUT only until I quit and restarted iPhoto - during the same session (i.e., before quitting iPhoto) it recognized any duplicate I tried to import, but, once I quit and restarted iPhoto, it stopped detecting duplicate of previously imported pics.

I created a new iPhoto Library to start from scratch and reimported all my pics -- again, duplicate detection worked untilI quit iPhoto. After quitting and restarting iPhoto, it will not detect duplicates of previously imported photos.

I created a new IPhoto Library and only imported a few pics -- same result.

I did my best to completely uninstall iPhoto and its components and reinstalled it -- same result.

Here's the strangest thing - I can recreate this problem (and all of the steps above) on my iMac (late 2007) and Mac Mini (late 2009) - both running Lion 10.7.1 and iPhoto 9.2.1. My macbook air seems to not have this problem.

Please help.
