I was wiping the remote on my shirt to get all the grubby finger marks off the shiny glass part and that was activating all sorts of actions on the unit / making beeps and such. I looked up and in the top right hand corner there was a message that said something like "Stackshot saved. Hold for 6 seconds to ....." Thats all I got. I should have taken a picture. Anyone have any idea what this was? The app that was currently running was CNN but I don't think that had anything to do with the message.

Same thing happened to me. Twice now. The messages disappeared before I could snap a pic. Can’t recreate it either. I am running the latest beta and can view related files somewhere in the settings. But I’m not a dev so I don’t know what it means.

Stackshot is a debug log - on iOS and watchOS they get made at the same time you take a screenshot (home+volume or crown+sleep buttons at the same time), though there is no onscreen message. You have to sync your device to iTunes to retrieve them. I'd assume ATV has another key combination but Apple never posted it in the developer docs like they do for watchOS and iOS.

If you press the play/pause button simultaneously with the volume down button you will get the stackshot message if you hold it for 6 seconds then you can download the analytics if you want to.
