Strange Mouse Issue

So I've had my Macbook for a few month and love it, but in the past few days my mouse has been acting very strange, sometimes it doesn't want to click on items and it is always an arrow, usually it will switch to the the pointing hand to click links etc, but I'm getting none of that. I also for some strange reason can't open my Macintosh HD from the desktop. I have to go through the finder in the dock to get to apps etc. Any ideas on this strange behavior??
