A friend of mine is getting notifications several times a day that are of an unknown origin. So far, I haven't been able to track down where they're coming from. Here is one she received:

She doesn't know Doug or any of the others named in these notifications. The little purple logo looks like Podcast, but those notifications are turned off. Also, the notifications are about various things, not just reminders. Suggestions??

p.s. Moderators - I wasn't sure where to post this, so if there is a better place I'd appreciate it being moved.

Curiousity got the better of me and I did an image search for the purple logo: it's a tracker app. Maybe make an appointment with an apple genius and have them wipe the phone and start fresh. Have her change her passcode to something only she knows!

I'll see if I can find a tracker app on her phone. We would both like to avoid the nuclear "wipe and refresh" if possible, but that may be what it takes.

Has she tried to click on the notification and see what happens? That would be my first question. It would likely open the app that the notification is related to.

I know there are ways to get spam notifications on the iPhone that pretend like they are from an app. I don’t know if that has been patched

Yeah, that's Tile Life360. Apps that are not present on the iPhone cannot receive push notifications, so she has the app and clearly stuff in it.

I'd open the app directly (not from the notification, just in case doing so executes any undesired actions on her behalf) to see what exactly "Doug" is and proceed from there.

You might try contacting the previous owner and make sure they remove this phone from their Apple ID.
That's not how push notifications work.

Looks like Life360 app notifications. When the battery gets too low some functions stop.

Yeah, this isn't tile. This is life360. She's somehow joined a circle and Doug is one of those people in the circle (and also bad at keeping his phone charged). I just want to know how she joined a circle and knows nothing of the app or the people in the circle.

Thanks everyone. I've advised my friend accordingly. Now we'll see if that fixes the problem.
