I have a 2017 15in Macbook Pro that i brought with me to Europe. I've tried everything I can think of (SMC reset, ensure periphreals aren't on the same side as the charger, etc) but no matter what when I plug in my Macbook Pro the fans speeds up to close to 100% and don't reduce in speed until I pull the power cord. Only think I can think of is its because I'm using a 110 charging brick with a 220 plug adapter. Any thoughts or ideas?

I am going to assume your MBP came from the US.

By adapter, do you mean something that steps the voltage down from 240 to 120? Or just a simple plug adapter that lets you connect to a 2 pin European (or 2/3 angled plug in UK) wall socket on one end and a has a US 2-prong socket on the other.

If it is the first you don't need it, get rid of it and get the latter.

Your apple charger can support from 100v to 240v. You just need an adapter for the prongs. If you can't find one, go to an Apple store and buy the local changer extension cord and replace the 2 prong end from the charger with the cord.

Sorry for the late reply, didn’t get a notification. I have a plastic white adapter that converts the plug from 110 to 240, it doesn’t step down the voltage.
