hi,

I want to know why strange folders are being created on my desktop. I've had this problem quite a while.

I have text files used for simple note taking, that I edit frequently on my desktop . They are 'rtfd' files.

Anyway, every couple of days I notice new folders with the same name as the text files, appearing on the desktop....but with random like letters and numbers added to the end.

eg.

I have a simple text file on my desktop called ......

current.rtfd

...which I use just for simple personal notetaking. Then, without my knowing, I'll notice a folder has been created called ......

current.rtfd.sb-d7ce0fef-v0lIV1

So, some application has created the folder using the same name as my text file.
When I look in the folder I notice files . The first file is a .rtf file named TXT with content copied from my origional current.rtfd file and other files following are .jpg files that are pictures I've pasted into the current.rtfd file. ....like the current file has been broken down into text and photo files.

TXT.rtf

These strange folders with random letters behind up are constantly coming up cluttering my worktop, making me move them to trashcan.

I have noticed something similar with all these strange folders that come up... When I getinfo on them they are all created and modified around 6:40am in the morning.

Does anybody know what they are ?...how I can make it stop ?

appreciate any help
thanks
