Hi,
I recently bought an iMac retina and found the screen crushed the blacks which was no good for photo editing. Calibrating with the x-rite i1 display pro seemed to fix this, or so I thought.
I found that I had to reduce gamma to 1.8, and then alongside the measured black point things seemed OK, until I use my favoured web browser chrome. Images on chrome still have massively crushed blacks, and I have to calibrate to gamma 1.3 to prevent this. However websites then look washed out (banners, text etc). On safari it appears to have it's own gamma correction as changing between profiles with different gamma seems to make little to no effect.
Why is chrome doing this and is there something I can do to correct it?
On a separate note, can you get the bookmarks bar to display icons like chrome so that it's easier to distinguish?
Edit: I forgot to mention my pre retina hi red MacBook Pro is set to gamma 2.2 and shows no issue using chrome. Could it be that chrome has an 'issue' with the hi red of the 5k screen for some reason?
Any help appreciated.
