Any of you ever get a strange text like this? It's obviously some kind of spam. How do you end up getting these to begin with? Stupidly, I clicked on the link because I wanted to see what it really was, and it appears to be an ad for Payday Loans.

So what I really want to know is, how does one end up getting these texts? Can you do a "Block This Caller" and block the recipient?

Thanks

Verizon lets you restrict text messages from their website. Suggesting you log in and see what the settings are. I did this a while ago.

So this is a text from Verizon? How can you tell?

Just got one a few minutes ago looking similar to the one you posted, it's not from VZW - it's spam. I get 1-5 of these each month, more a PITA than anything...

DON'T. CLICK. THAT. LINK.

I forward the spam to 7726 (SPAM), and VZW deals with it. I'm on a limited TM plan option, and I don't get charged for the messages I forward to VZW. I also "block" the sender.

FWIW, I had a T-Mo prepaid phone for a couple of months and inherited some loser's mobile number - it got something like 20-30 spam messages each day, and I changed the number after 5 days.

Look at the ops first screen shot that displays verizon in upper left. Verizon website has some spam controls on a number by number basis.

got it, thanks

You can block calls directly from the iPhone. Go to Messages > Blocked in settings.
