What exact Mac with what specific Mac OS X version are you using?
What Safari version do you use?

Does the issue stay with a new Safari window or tab?
Have you reset Safari yet?

Btw, there are currently no Mac OS X viruses in public circulation.

I'm at work at the mo so can't check but I use a Macbook Pro (bought new in 2007) I think the specifics are MacBook Pro - Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - 13.3″ and running Snow Leopard 10.6.3

The Safari I think is Safari 4.0.5 but that's a guess...I don't have the brand new Safari 5 yet.

Yes I've reset, restarted etc, the issue doesn't happen with Google Chrome or Firefox, however when I open a new window/tab in Safari it still happens.

At one point most websites had a small amount of the 'A' symbols in (i.e. certain headings/titles) then the more tabs I opened the more symbols seemed to take over the website if you see what I mean??

Thanks.
