For a little over a year and a half i've been experiencing weird trackpad behaviour on my mid-2012 MacBook Pro. At first i just noticed it either got extremely sensitive or super slow, so i lowered the speed. Then it was making weird sounds when i clicked, almost as if it was displaced on the topcase. To this i found the strange solution online of grabbing the MBP by it's side and clicking while holding it like that- surprisingly it worked several times, but this was only a temporary fix. Then more response issues, not doing anything when i clicked, not letting me select text, etc. For the past few months it has been behaving fine until today, when again it's not letting me select text properly. I noticed the problem gets worse if i rest my palm on the aluminium body, particularly on the left side but i've also experienced this with the right side.

Recently i got the service battery warning (of which i talked in a different thread) and i decided to live with it for a while as my local AASP overcharges by a lot. Could this be a sign that the battery is swelling? Should i worry about it? I've been told MacBook's trackpads are known to fail, especially true with the newer models, is that the case with mine?
