I have an iMac that i like to use as my central computer. It's running 10.4.2 (i have not upgraded yet because of .3's bugs). For some reason, my iPod worked fine to sync up the first time, but any time after that when it gets connected it doesn't do anything and i have to hold down menu and play (i have a 3G iPod) hard restart it. when i do this the iPod's hard drive then starts to spin but i see the LCD flicker for a very short period of time and hear the hard drive stop and start up suddenly again, and the process repeats. has this ever happened to somebody, and what might be the cause of this?

Failing hard drive? Go into your Utilities folder and open up Disk Utility. Click on your iPod on the left hand side and Verify Disk. What's it saying?
Also, a restore may help. You can do this from the iPod Software Updater inside your Utilities folder also. It'll delete everything on the iPod though, so make sure there's nothing important on it.
