Does anyone know whether there are any decent strategy games that run well on the new Iris card on the 13" model?

I'm not a regular gamer but was curious if there was anything out there if the mood took me.

You talking like StarCraft? I believe people are running SC2 on there just fine.

I thought SC2 might be a bit beyond the Iris cards but I'll give it a go.

I know that my description isn't particularly helpful, but any type of Strategy, Role Playing game would suit. :)

I've thoroughly enjoyed playing XCOM Enemy Unknown - a turn-based strategy game that should run great on your machine. It's available on steam.

All strategy games will run on the Iris graphics. The 2012 MBA manages around 30 fps in SC2 at decent settings, so the rMBP should do 50 fps.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have the disks for SC2 somewhere around here...

Has anyone here tried Diablo III on the Haswell 13" rMBP?

That shows how little I know - I did not realize it was an online-only game. haha

If I am not mistaken, there is now an offline mode for single player, but you need a battle net account to actually install and start the game. Now, Diablo 3 simply cannot be played without a connection.

I was playing some games last night on my new rMBP 13" and after 10min or so the fan kicked in in quite loud and I was asking myself if it is not bad for the laptop running so hot for a few hours:confused:

That is a worry... :( How long before the fans kicked in?

I'll some games this week and report back.

I don't know why people are so worried about temperature and fan usage. Playing games makes any computer run hotter, yes. They're designed with that in mind, that's why the fans exist. All computers switch themselves off if they reach actually dangerous temperatures. That rarely happens unless you're overclocking. Just use your damn computer and stop worrying. Your computer will be obsolete before sustained temperature damage causes it to fail.
