I have been able to import M2T files with mpeg stream clip and convert them to DV files so I can edit them in imovie. I do however have one problem, I cant seem to get around. the option for 2-pass encode is grayed out and the quality slider is at 50% and I can't move it to less than 50% or more than 50%. I have read all the tutorials I can find. Either I have no reading comprehension skills or there something here I can't find.

There's no such thing as "2 pass" with the DV codec, and there's no such thing as a quality setting. It's a fixed codec.

You mean the 2pass option is greyed out no matter what codec you try to use?
