Hi all, i have a Elgato streamdeck that i want to use on my Macbook Pro 2019 but only for windows, not for Mac OS.
I use Parallels to run Windows 10 on my Mac and after installing the streamdeck software (for windows) and connecting the SD to the mac, it’s not being recognized.

FYI, there is no problem connecting and using the SD directly in MacOS (after installing the Mac version of streamdeck software) so this problem only happens when i try connecting it with windows version of the streamdeck software running.

The reason i need it for windows are some hotkeys for a few windows only applications i am currently using in Win10.

Anyone else had this problem and is there a fix?
Strangely, i couldn’t find any info on this specific problem when i searched google..

Any help is much appreciated.

Did you config it in Parallels as a USB device? In the VM settings before launching your VM?

Sorry I use different VM software than Parallels. Typically, you need to go into the settings for your virtual machine. To tell it what devices to pass through to your VM.

Yeah, i tell it to connect to the windows virtual machine when i plug it into the Mac but it still doesn’t show up anywhere in windows and the streamdeck software doesn’t recognize it.

This is starting to drive me crazy, why is it so hard to make it appear in windows??

If anyone here happens to have a streamdeck and runs windows in Parallels VM, i would be so thankful if you could try and connect yours and see if it’s recognized in windows.

I don't normally use parallels, but I just installed the free trial to try this with my Stream Deck Mini. After installing windows, I clicked the usb thumb drive icon and selected my stream deck on the list of devices and got a prompt asking if I wanted to allow the device to connect, and then installed the Elgato software and it just worked as one would expect.

I can check and uncheck it from the list and it automatically switches between MacOS and the windows VM

I'm doing this on a 2013 Mac Pro running Monterey

Yeah, i did some more digging and found this thread over at the Parallels forums. Apparently, it´s version 17.1.x that causes problems connecting USB devices to the virtual machine. I was using 17.1.2 but it looks like they still havn´t fixed this issue in 17.1.4 which is the latest of the 17 release.

I installed the new release 18 of Parallels today and can report that everything works great again and all of my USB devices can now be connected to the virtual machine without any problems.

May i ask what version of Parallels you were running?

was using 18.0.0. Would try 17, but I'm not finding a download for it on their website.
