I got my MacBook Air on Friday (loving it!), and so I was planning on making my old MacBook become a media server of sorts (for Apple TV, etc). I thought that I could stream my content to my MBA when I needed, and for the most part it's working ok, but there are a couple of niggles I have:

1) Grid view - I cannot stand list view (especially for music and podcasts), and would love to be able to use grid view.

2) Video buffering - When I start streaming a video, it always starts from the beginning, but if I click the middle of the 'timeline' (I'm sure there's a better name for it), it always seems to jump ahead only by about 5 minutes or so - very annoying and slow for a 2-hour movie, for example.

3) Video streaming - while all the videos that I have bought from the iTunes Store work fine, the ones that I've imported manually don't stream at all. I think this is quite odd, as they're all the right formats, and can be synced to my iPhone or played on the Apple TV.

So, my question is: is there a better solution than Home Sharing that can alleviate some of these problems (I don't care about streaming from outside my local network, as I have my iPhone), or is there a way of getting around these problems through Home Sharing (I don't know if Applescripts could help)? I saw something about Simplify Media, but apparently that's only music?

Many thanks in advance for all your help!
